Terdapat banyak jenis bawang besar. Pokok ini adalah jenis bebawang dua musim. Bunganya berwarna putih. Bunganya kecil, dan mempunyai kepala bunga yang berjambak. Daun pokoknya diguna sebagai sayur, salad dan pewangi. Bebawangnya diguna sebagai rempah. Ia juga diguna dengan helia sebagai herba perubatan bagi hepala pening dan deman sesema.

There are many varieties of onions. This is a biannual bulb plant. The flowers are white. Flowers are small, and clastered together to form a flower head.The leaves are used as a vegetable, salad and as an aromatic. The bulbs are used as a spice. It is also use with ginger as a medicinal herb for headache and colds
