Study Programmes:The International Buddhist College ,Thailand (IBC) will initially offer a first degree programme awarding B.A.in Religious Studies/B.A. in Liberal Arts degree as follow: - Bachelor of Arts (Buddhist Thought)
- Bachelor of Arts (Buddhist Historical and Cultural Studies)
- Bachelor of Arts (Scriptural Languages and Literature)
In the future, IBC will also offer Postgraduate degree courses in Buddhist Studies,such as M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D degree research programmes and also secular courses. Entry Requirements:An applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent. If he/she is a foreign student graduated from other countries, the Ministry of Education will determine whether it is equivalent to Thai high school or not. Students have to pay for an evaluation of the diploma or transcript. Or A Bhikkhu or novice with grade 5 in Pali Study and Nak Dham EkOr A pass in any examination which qualify a candidate for admission to a recognized universityOr Any other educational attainment that the Senate of the College deems to be equivalent for admission to the Bachelor of Arts in Buddhist Studies.Notwithstanding the above, applicants must attained a level of proficiency in English language acceptable by the Senate of the college for admission to the Bachelor of Arts in Buddhist Studies. IBC will commence its first semester in October 2004. The closing date for application is 1st September 2004. Medium of Instruction:The IBC will adopt English as the language for all its teaching and research programmes, in view of the following reasons: Since English is the lingua franca internationally, its adoption could ensure the enrolment of a large number of students, both from eastern and western countries It enables the IBC to recruit competent scholars from different countries as members of its academic staff and to confer visiting professorships to eminent scholars. Since the advent of academic studies in Buddhism at the turn of the 19th century, the number of books, monographs, research studies, journals and news bulletins relating to Buddhism have been largely in the English medium. |
