Chapter 04 - Organic Farming Project Plan
Bab 01 - Rancangan Projek Kebun Organik

  • To provide a platform to gain experience and experiment on Organic Vegetable production.
  • To supply the organic vegetable to Than Hsiang Temple Penang in the future.

TARGET PROCESS
PROSES ARAH TUJU

The farm should be started on an initial loan process, which is to be paid-back when the farm is in production. It will be based on Buddhist Organic Farming procedures without the use of poisons or any other methods that is not environment friendly. Choice of vegetables planted will also be of those usable at IBC or Than Hsiang Temple.

IDENTIFICATION OF LAND
PILIHAN TANAH

A survey of the total IBC land area was made on the 21st. July 2003 by staffs of Klintiendharm (Than Hsiang) Foundation and Khun Pradit who acts as a local consultant. A small seven (7) rai plot of land (marked in red on the plan above) at the far right side of IBC on the other side of the high tension electric line was selected as the most logical location for the farm with the following rational.

  • Seven (7) rai is sufficient for a 5 year expansion of the farm
  • Another eight (8) rai of government reserve land under the high tension electric wires that can also be used by the farm should there be a need for further expansion.
  • It is isolated from the IBC campus ground and is too small for other larger projects
  • There is a stream running nearby for the source of constant water supply.
  • The current plants on the land is palm oil, unlike rubber it is not harvested and is not bring in any earning to IBC
  • It already has an access dirt road.
  • It is beside the main road.
  • The soil in that area is sandy loam which is suitable for food crops.
  • The land title is agricultural and there is no need for conversion
  • It is walking distance from the IBC campus.
